Poingo Review {Giveaway}

Are you looking for a great educational gift for your child? We highly suggest that you check out POINGO! Poingo is the perfect educational learning tool for your little ones that are learning to read. We received the Poingo starter set, which retails for $34.99. The Poingo starter set comes with the pen-shaped “Poingo” and two hardcover books: Cars and Finding Nemo. Other popular titles are available for purchase at just $9.99 each! Poingo runs on just 2 AAA batteries so you won't have lots of expensive batteries to purchase!

Poingo is an interactive storybook with a pen shaped scanner that makes storybooks come to life! Representing the next generation in interactive books – made simple–Poingo™ makes books “come alive” for children. Poingo enables kids to unlock hidden treasures on every page, triggering exciting elements of discovery, exploration and surprise. Using the penshaped Poingo to touch pictures or text, children bring their favorite characters to life with words, sounds and music. Poingo is “fun right out of the box,” with no complicated instructions, so kids simply turn it on, point and go. An infrared scanner “reads” microscopic symbols throughout the book, which triggers Poingo to provide the audio through an onboard speaker.

Ella reallly enjoyed her Poingo! I love that the pen wasn't attached to anything therefore not limiting her range of motion with the pen and no cords to get tangled!! It worked out well when Ethan and Ella were reading the book together, they could easily pass the pen back and forth without worrying about a cord! Unlike most products this product works great for left and right handed children! Having a left handed and right handed child this is very important to us! The pen is very easy for Ella to use, she just turns it on and the only other button she has to worry about is the volume (which is only 2 levels).
Each page of the book offers several options:
  • touch the words and the story will be read with sound effects
  • touch the highlighted words and the definitions is read
  • touch characters and objects to hear music and sound effects
  • play games and answer riddles
Ella loves the sound effects! This is product that she will gets lots of use and learning from.
Poingo is a product that she can continue to use as she grows older. Now she just enjoys having the stories being read to her from book. Later she will be able to use it to help her with word recognition. It will also help with learning new vocabulary because definitions are given for words that are above the child's reading level. With the pen and the book seperate it also helps to improve hand-eye coordination. Overall, we very impressed with Poingo and have asked Santa for more Poingo books for Christmas. We highly reccomended this exciting and educational product for your little ones!

Poingo is recommended for ages 3 to 7 and is available on the web at http://www.mypoingo.com/ as well as children’s book departments of select major retailers such as Target, Kohls, ToysRUs, Sams and Walmart!
Question Answered:
Poingo and Tag are based on a similar technology but there are major differences between the two products. The following question was asked “Do you use your computer to download the sound onto the pen” – the 6 books that are available now are already loaded on to the pen, so you don’t need to use your computer at all. If you buy additional books after that, that’s the content you will need to download from the computer. Poingo holds up to 50 books.

It's similar to the Leapfrog TAG! I haven't seen Poingo, but I'd be curious to know how it compares to the TAG. Do you use your computer to download the sound onto the pen?
